Bull Shoals is set to host its second annual Dam Jam festival on Saturday, September 26, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Roy Danuser Park. This year’s event coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Bull Shoals Dam and aims to attract an even larger crowd than the nearly 6,000 attendees who turned out last year.
Organizers, including the Bull Shoals Parks and Recreation team and community volunteers, have made significant upgrades to accommodate the expected increase in visitors. Additional handicap-accessible and general public parking areas have been established, and more food vendors will be present.
"Last year’s attendance far exceeded expectations," said Bull Shoals City Councilman Mike Howell. "We’re excited to build on that success."
This year’s Dam Jam will feature more than 60 vendors, including local businesses, nonprofit organizations, and community groups. Activities will range from a casting challenge hosted by the Fred Berry Crooked Creek Nature Center to a children’s craft area sponsored by Home Depot. Dogwood Lodge will return with its popular splash zone and water balloon battle.
The festival will also highlight various hobbies and interests, including displays of motorcycles, classic cars, and boats, as well as gatherings for model train and remote-controlled plane enthusiasts.
Musical entertainment will be provided by acts such as Ozark Thunder, BLT Americana, and Heavy Wrecker, among others. Howell emphasized that the diverse activities and performances are what make Dam Jam a true community event that draws both residents and visitors.
To encourage overnight stays, the Dam Site Campground is offering a 50% discount for attendees. Event organizers are optimistic that Dam Jam will continue to showcase the Bull Shoals community and its unique attractions.
