POCAHONTAS, Ark. — The Randolph County Sheriff’s Office has ended its professional relationship with bail bondsman Mel Poisso, according to a public notice issued last week. However, the decision does not extend to Triple R Bail Bonds or its owner, Jeremy Rowland, Sheriff Kevin Bell clarified.
The notice, dated Wednesday, Sept. 2, initially stated that the sheriff’s office would no longer conduct bail bond business with Triple R Bail Bonds and "in particular Mel Poisso." It also asserted that continuing the business relationship with Triple R was not in the best interest of the sheriff’s office or the public.
Bell clarified in a subsequent statement issued Thursday that the action applies exclusively to Poisso and not to Triple R or its employees. “It’s not with Jeremy or his company, Triple R. It’s with one person,” Bell told NEA Report in a text message, adding that he plans to maintain normal business operations with Rowland and the company’s other employees.
Triple R’s website lists Poisso as one of its bail agents, with Rowland identified as the company’s owner.
The public notice from the sheriff’s office attributed the decision to ongoing concerns regarding service, communication, reliability, and competency related to interactions with Poisso. However, the notice did not provide specific examples or allege any criminal conduct. Bell declined to elaborate on the matter, citing potential legal action.
“Apparently they are threatening to sue me now, so I don’t want to comment,” Bell told NEA Report. He did not specify who he was referring to or provide additional details about the legal threat.
The sheriff’s office emphasized that this decision does not prohibit individuals from seeking legal counsel or using other lawful options relating to bail or bonding services.
