A Franklin man has been arrested on charges of second-degree domestic battery after allegations surfaced that he held a woman against her will for three days and subjected her to severe abuse.
Charles Branch, 40, is accused of cutting the woman’s arm with a knife, punching her repeatedly, and using a weed eater on her legs and ankles, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Izard County. The woman told deputies that Branch inflicted the injuries while intoxicated, leaving her unable to escape the residence.
Deputies investigating the claims observed bruises, cuts, and lacerations on the victim, including injuries consistent with repeated contact from a weed eater. The affidavit states that a weed eater was photographed inside Branch’s living room.
The woman reported being held for three days during the alleged abuse. She also claimed that Branch used Gorilla super glue and duct tape while restraining her, as well as throwing knives in her direction during the ordeal.
Izard County deputies arrested Branch at his home, where they reported he appeared “heavily intoxicated.” He was taken to the Izard County Detention Center and is currently facing a felony charge of second-degree domestic battery.
Branch remains in custody as the investigation continues.
