Visitors heading to Lakes Norfork and Bull Shoals this holiday weekend can expect excellent conditions for outdoor activities, according to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Communications Specialist Jay Townsley confirmed the lakes are ready to accommodate guests with no flooded campsites and water levels near ideal.
Forecast temperatures are expected to reach around 100 degrees, and Townsley advised visitors to prepare for the heat. With sunlight reflecting off the water, he noted, people should take appropriate safety precautions and maintain a positive attitude, as elevated temperatures can increase irritability.
Townsley also encouraged lake-goers to exercise respect and caution. “Take it easy on the alcohol, and be considerate of other boaters, swimmers, and campers,” he advised.
For those camping in the surrounding areas, it is essential to be aware of burn bans currently in effect in Baxter, Fulton, Sharp, and Izard Counties, prohibiting open fires due to dry conditions and heightened fire risk.
