The 19th annual 'Freedom in the Park' celebration is taking place today at Imboden City Park, offering a variety of free activities for the community. Organized by Judy Henderson, owner of S and H Quick Shop, the event seeks to bring the Imboden community together in celebration of the freedoms enjoyed in the United States.
Activities began at 10 a.m. and include live music, free hamburgers, hot dogs, drinks, games, and prizes. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own folding chairs to relax and enjoy the entertainment.
Adding a deeper sense of reflection this year, the Arkansas Fallen Heroes Flag Memorial has been set up on the lot between the city park and the S and H Quick Shop, located on Hwy 63. The memorial, which honors Arkansans who lost their lives in military service, was opened on Friday and will remain available for viewing through September 11, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.
Judy Henderson emphasized the significance of this year's event, pointing out the joint milestone of America's 250th birthday and the September 11 commemoration. She expressed gratitude to local supporters, including her husband Eldon Henderson, as well as other sponsors and donors from the Imboden area who have worked to make the event completely free for visitors.
Those attending are also invited to walk through the Arkansas Fallen Heroes Flag Memorial, which provides a solemn tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
