The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office announced this week that a man convicted of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor in Utah has registered with local authorities following his move to Mountain Home, Arkansas.
The individual, whose address was listed as 263 Glencrest Lane, Mountain Home, AR 72653, was arrested on June 1, 2014, in Utah and convicted on February 18, 2016. He was sentenced to a prison term of up to five years and is mandated to register as a sex offender.
According to the sheriff’s office, the offender’s community risk level has not yet been determined by Arkansas’s Sex Offender Community Notification Assessment (SOCNA). Risk levels, assigned by SOCNA, help inform the public of the perceived danger posed by an individual’s ongoing presence in the community.
Authorities emphasized that the man is not currently wanted by law enforcement and that the public notification is issued in the interest of transparency and safety. Sheriff John F. Montgomery, in a statement, underscored that the intent of the notice is not to cause fear but to foster a well-informed community. However, he also cautioned that any misuse of this information to threaten, intimidate, or harass the individual will not be tolerated, as such actions could jeopardize future community notifications.
