Firefighters in Independence County responded to two house fires on the same day, with crews from multiple departments working to control both blazes. No injuries were reported in either incident.
The first fire occurred at a two-story house in the Ruddell Hill area. According to the Batesville Fire Department, the fire had already spread through the roof and heavily damaged the second floor by the time firefighters arrived. Crews from the Batesville, Ruddell Hill, Bethesda, and Northside fire departments responded to the scene.
Batesville Fire Department’s Ladder 1 was deployed as an elevated waterway to suppress the flames on the roof and upper floor. Firefighters conducted a thorough search inside the home and confirmed no one was inside during the incident.
Earlier that day, a separate fire broke out at a home on Broadwater Lane in Batesville. This fire occurred during a Batesville Fire Department meeting, allowing the department to respond quickly with a substantial number of personnel. Firefighters searched the interior, extinguished the flames, and initiated salvage and overhaul operations. Everyone inside the home had already evacuated when crews arrived.
Authorities have not released the causes of either fire, and investigations are likely ongoing.
