Human remains discovered in Trumann last month have been officially identified as those of Rebecca Lucille Montgomery, Trumann Police announced Monday. According to police, the remains were found on August 21, 2026, during the execution of a search warrant at a property on North Pine Avenue. The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory confirmed the identification after conducting examinations.
Montgomery was reported missing on August 14, 2026, triggering an investigation by the Trumann Police Department. Law enforcement, including SWAT teams from Trumann Police and the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office, conducted the search that uncovered the remains as part of the ongoing case. The property search was supported by the Arkansas State Police, the FBI, and other agencies.
The police have not disclosed any details about the circumstances of Montgomery's death, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. Officials have stated that additional information will be released when it is available and will not compromise investigative efforts.
Chief Doug Thomas of the Trumann Police Department expressed condolences to Montgomery's family and requested privacy for her loved ones as they mourn their loss. "Our thoughts remain with Rebecca’s family and loved ones during this difficult time," he stated.
