Diesel fuel prices have reached record levels in Arkansas and Missouri, according to data from AAA released on Friday, Sept. 4.
The national average for diesel now stands at $5.85 per gallon, setting an all-time high, AAA stated. Arkansas and Missouri have also reported their highest diesel prices on record, though exact state averages were not disclosed.
The surge in diesel costs follows disruptions to global shipping tied to the ongoing war with Iran. Analysts note these price increases are affecting a wide range of consumer goods as businesses pass higher fuel costs along to customers. Shoppers are seeing the impact most notably in the cost of groceries, online orders, and mailed packages.
AAA continues to monitor fuel prices and notes that fluctuations in global markets can significantly influence costs at the pump.
