Verizon customers in parts of Arkansas and Oklahoma reported service disruptions Thursday afternoon, with issues affecting both phone and internet services.
According to the outage-tracking site Downdetector, reports of problems began around 2:40 p.m. Several customers noted their devices had switched to SOS mode, which occurs when a cellular signal is unavailable but emergency calls can still be made. Outages appeared to be concentrated in areas such as Little Rock, Arkansas, and Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Verizon Support posted a message on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, acknowledging the disruption. The company said it is aware of wireless service interruptions affecting some customers and apologized while assuring the public that engineers are working to address the issue.
Customers experiencing dropped service can try basic troubleshooting steps to reconnect, according to guidance provided by Verizon. Restarting the device, enabling Wi-Fi calling if possible, or toggling airplane mode on and off may help restore a connection, depending on the cause of the outage. Verizon users can also visit the company’s online network status page to check whether outages have been officially reported in their location.
No timeline has been provided for when full service will be restored.
