Former Hardy Police Chief Scott Rose has been temporarily transferred to the Sharp County Detention Center after a medical condition required attention, according to Sharp County Sheriff Shane Russell.
Rose, 48, had been held at the Independence County Jail in Batesville since his conviction in Sharp County on charges of second-degree sexual assault and knowingly furnishing alcohol to a minor. On the sexual assault charge, Rose was fined $15,000, while the furnishing alcohol charge carried an additional $2,500 fine.
Sheriff Russell stated in a public announcement that Rose’s transfer to Sharp County is solely for medical reasons and does not reflect any change in his legal status. Once medical care has been provided and Rose is medically cleared, he is expected to be transferred to another facility.
Rose’s sentence includes one year of incarceration in Sharp County on the alcohol charge, with three days already credited toward that term. The sheriff emphasized that the current transfer is a temporary arrangement focused on addressing Rose’s immediate health needs.
