COTTON PLANT, Ark. – Arkansas State Police are investigating a shooting in Cotton Plant that injured two people on Monday, Aug. 21.
Officers responded to a home on Conley Drive and found 19-year-old Elana Martin of Little Rock at the front door with a gunshot wound to her thigh. Martin was taken by ambulance to Unity Health in Searcy for treatment.
At a separate home on the same street, officers located 20-year-old Zephaniah Wheeler of Horn Lake, Mississippi. Wheeler had gunshot wounds to his chest and arm and was airlifted to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock. Officials reported he was in stable condition after undergoing surgery.
Authorities believe both victims were injured in the same incident, but details remain under investigation. No further information has been released.
