A Jonesboro man has been arrested after police allege he repeatedly harassed and threatened his ex-girlfriend.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Ezekiel Lewis Lindsey, 42, faces charges of second-degree stalking, a Class C felony, and harassing communications, a Class A misdemeanor. Craighead County District Judge David Boling has set Lindsey’s bond at $1 million, cash or surety.
The investigation began on August 30, when Jonesboro police dispatch received a report of smoke in the 1200 block of West Monroe Avenue. Firefighters discovered the source of the smoke: a fire in a back bedroom crawl space of a residence. Court documents state detectives interviewed the tenant, who said she had left and secured the home the day before. She also indicated she had been engaged in ongoing disputes with her ex-boyfriend, Lindsey.
The victim told detectives that Lindsey had recently shown up at her residence, taken her phone and keys, then smashed the phone and failed to return her keys. Additionally, she reported Lindsey had been repeatedly calling her with threats of harm, to the point that she had to turn off her phone on multiple occasions. The affidavit states the victim had asked Lindsey to cease contact and leave her alone, but he persisted—eventually driving by her home without her consent.
Detectives gathered evidence supporting the victim's claims and secured a warrant for Lindsey's arrest. Lindsey was apprehended on September 1 and reportedly made incriminating statements during his police interview before being transported to the Craighead County Detention Center.
Further court records reveal Lindsey has a criminal history spanning several years, including 24 arrests since 2005. He was also charged in 2019 with three counts of capital murder following a fatal house fire. Those charges were later dismissed after the state cited the mishandling of key evidence, which Lindsey’s attorneys successfully moved to suppress.
Lindsey remains under investigation for arson in connection to the August 30 fire. His arraignment is scheduled for October 26.
