The Mountain Home Lady Bombers volleyball team delivered a dramatic win Tuesday night at The Hangar, overcoming Jonesboro Westside in a five-set matchup. The victory was part of an exciting evening that included wins for both the junior high eighth and ninth-grade teams.
In the eighth-grade competition, Mountain Home triumphed in a single set. For the ninth-grade matchup, the Lady Bombers swept Westside in two sets, 25-18 and 25-13, with Samira Gassama and Grace Rosenlof contributing four kills each.
The junior varsity team also notched a two-set win, defeating the Warriors 25-15 and 25-23. Jocelyn Green led the offense with six kills, while Gracen Warren anchored the defense with 15 digs.
The varsity contest proved to be the highlight of the night. Mountain Home, for the first time this season, claimed the opening set 25-20. Westside responded in the second, narrowly winning 25-22. The Lady Bombers regained the lead with a 25-21 victory in the third set, but Westside forced a decisive fifth set by winning the fourth 25-23.
Facing match point and trailing 14-11 in the final set, Mountain Home staged a dramatic rally to tie the game at 14 before edging out Westside 17-15. Strong individual performances drove the comeback, with Aleigh Lucas and Annyston Crooker each posting 15 kills. Eliana Pepin added 10 more kills, while Violet Daugherty recorded 25 assists and 21 digs. Zoey Throckmorton contributed three aces to round out the team effort.
Mountain Home will look to carry their momentum into Thursday’s road match against Batesville.
