The Jonesboro Police Department is offering financial incentives to attract new officers and fill 11 open positions ahead of the year’s end.

According to Sergeant Evan Henry, certified officers—those who have already completed a police academy—are eligible for bonuses of up to $12,000. Applicants without certification may also qualify, starting with a $5,000 incentive to join the force and begin the process.

Applications are being accepted through September 12, with more than 60 individuals already applying. Testing for applicants will take place on the September 12 deadline.

“The idea behind the incentive is just to encourage people to apply, to increase our numbers, and to find quality applicants for the police department that will be able to serve our community in a good way and be a positive impact on the community,” Henry explained in a recent statement.

The department is seeking candidates who demonstrate strong moral character, a commitment to service, and a willingness to work diligently. Prospective applicants can learn more or submit applications by visiting jonesboropolicedepartment.com and selecting the “Join JPD” option.

The push for new officers comes as departments across Arkansas and the nation continue to face recruitment challenges in law enforcement.

Testing and application information, as well as additional details about incentives, can be found on the department’s website.
