JONESBORO—As students return for the fall semester at Arkansas State University, First National Bank Arena has introduced a series of upgrades aimed at enhancing the experience for visitors.
Improvements include a new indoor lighting system designed to brighten the space and enable light shows during events. The lighting has already been employed during A-State volleyball games, where its impact has been described as creating a unique and engaging atmosphere for fans.
"We have added new lighting inside the arena that allows for a brighter atmosphere as well as a new capability to run light shows," said FNBA Marketing Director Will Chamberlin. "We have already been able to use these features during A-State volleyball matches and we have seen how it has created a unique and exciting experience for the fans."
The upgrades come as the arena prepares to host a variety of events this fall, including a concert by country music artist Parker McCollum on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m. Another upcoming event features the Red Clay Strays, performing at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8. The band recently appeared on *The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon* and played a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden.
Fans attending these and other events will also notice improvements around the arena’s parking lots. New outdoor lighting has been installed to improve visibility and help attendees navigate the area more safely.
"We have also added new outdoor lighting around the parking lots, which contributes to promoting a safe and inviting environment," said Rod Saavedra, FNBA Director. "Safety is our top priority, and we always want to be able to blend safety and security while still enhancing a patron’s experience."
Additionally, the arena now features an upgraded court surface for the Red Wolves volleyball team. The cushioned, state-of-the-art surface was completed in time for the start of the volleyball season. According to Chamberlin, the court not only provides safer playing conditions for athletes but also offers a refreshed look for fans in attendance.
"We have also added a new court surface specifically designed for volleyball matches," Chamberlin said. "This cushioned, state-of-the-art surface allows for safer conditions for the players as well as a fresh new look for the fans."
Arena officials expressed enthusiasm for the improvements and the upcoming lineup of events, saying they are eager for fans to experience the changes firsthand.
FNBA will continue to serve as a hub for campus and community activities, combining its enhanced features with a busy schedule of sports and entertainment throughout the fall.
