A Mountain Home resident has once again clinched a top title in the competitive world of stone skipping. Over the weekend, Ashlie Hueter secured her fifth victory in six years at the Great Southern Stone Skipping Championship, held in Little Rock.
Hueter has participated in the event six times, finishing second only once, in 2024. This year, she captured the women’s division title with a remarkable 16 skips. Sam Conner, also from Mountain Home, placed third in the women’s division with 14 skips.
In the men’s division, Casey Broome of Timbo, a town in Stone County, earned second place after achieving 25 skips, just three skips behind the winner.
The Great Southern Stone Skipping Championship attracts participants from across the region, showcasing a niche but highly competitive sport based on precision and technique. Hueter’s consistent success has solidified her reputation as a formidable competitor in the event.
