Pattsy Smith was named Miss Hiram Shaddox 2026 during a pageant held at the Hiram Shaddox Health & Rehab center in Mountain Home. Ellen Dearin was announced as runner-up, with Billie Anne Brister taking the title of second runner-up.
The event was the culmination of weeks of preparation by the contestants, who made hair appointments, selected outfits, and even deliberated over their jewelry choices. Each participant had her moment in the spotlight, stepping forward as her name was called.
Joey Caster served as the pageant's host, introducing the contestants to the audience. Judges for the event were drawn from the team at Elite Home Health, whose staff members have long-standing ties to area families through their work in the community.
Holly Walker, the activities coordinator at Hiram Shaddox, oversaw the organization of the pageant. Her responsibilities included arranging decorations, music, and the event schedule, as well as preparing sashes for the winners. Walker also worked with families to ensure as many relatives as possible could attend the event.
The audience filled the room early, with family members arriving with flowers in hand to celebrate the residents. Even staff members who were off duty for the afternoon chose to attend the occasion.
Hiram Shaddox Health & Rehab is located at 1100 Pinetree Lane in Mountain Home. It serves as a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center for the community.
