A Nashville man died Saturday afternoon after being struck by an SUV on Interstate 55 in Blytheville, according to an Arkansas State Police report.

The incident happened near mile marker 67 in the southbound lanes around 1:10 p.m. when 62-year-old Thomas Remillard of Nashville was walking on the roadway, the report stated.

A 2006 Mercury SUV, driven by Joshua Hill of Dyersburg, Tennessee, attempted to avoid hitting Remillard by moving into the left lane. However, Remillard also entered the left lane, where he was struck, according to the report.

Remillard died from his injuries, and authorities have notified his next of kin. Hill sustained injuries in the crash, though details about his condition were not provided.

The report noted that weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the collision.
