WALNUT RIDGE — Two people were killed and two others were injured following a fiery three-vehicle collision on U.S. 63 Friday afternoon, according to the Arkansas State Police.
The crash occurred at approximately 2:32 p.m. on Aug. 28 near Sedgwick in Lawrence County. A 2014 Dodge Ram was traveling south in the right lane of U.S. 63, while a 2021 Ford F59 van was in the left southbound lane and a GMC vehicle was headed north in the right lane, according to an ASP fatal crash report.
The Dodge Ram reportedly swerved toward the inside lane, losing cargo in the process. The falling cargo caused the Ford F59 to cross the center line, entering the northbound lane where it collided with the GMC.
The driver of the GMC, a man, and a female passenger were killed in the crash. Authorities have yet to release their identities, listing them in the report as John Doe and Jane Doe because their next of kin have not been notified. Their ages and hometowns were also not disclosed.
The crash injured Blaine Blasko of Paragould, the driver of the Ford F59, as well as Keyasha Wheeler of Searcy, a passenger in the van. Details of their injuries were not provided in the crash report.
Investigators noted that weather conditions were clear and the road was dry at the time of the incident.
Arkansas State Police continue to investigate the crash.
