An 18-year-old Cherokee Village man has been arrested on multiple charges after an incident involving alleged fleeing from law enforcement and putting a minor at risk, according to the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office.
Authorities identified the suspect as Donald David Beaty, who was taken into custody on Saturday, August 29, and booked into the Sharp County Detention Center. Beaty faces several charges, including removal of a vehicle involved in an accident that caused property damage, resisting arrest, second-degree endangerment of the welfare of a minor, fleeing on foot, fleeing in a vehicle, and a first offense of driving while intoxicated (DWI).
The charge of second-degree endangerment of the welfare of a minor alleges that Beaty knowingly put a child at substantial risk of serious physical or mental harm. Officials have not provided additional details about the circumstances leading up to the arrest or the involvement of the minor.
Beaty remains in custody at the Sharp County Detention Center as of Tuesday, awaiting a bond hearing and court date.
