The Arkansas Fallen Heroes Flag Memorial is returning to Imboden, where it will be unveiled this Friday in preparation for the 19th Freedom in the Park Celebration. The event will take place Saturday at Imboden City Park.
Judy Henderson, owner of S & H Quick Shop and founder of Freedom in the Park, said the memorial holds special significance this year, marking both the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks and America’s upcoming 250th birthday.
The celebration begins Saturday at 10 a.m. with live music at the city park. Free food and drinks will be available throughout the day, accompanied by games and contests. Activities include a cornhole tournament with cash prizes and horseshoe pitching. Organizers emphasized that the event provides a safe and welcoming space for families and encouraged attendees to bring folding chairs and join in celebrating the nation’s freedoms.
The Arkansas Fallen Heroes Flag Memorial will be displayed across the street from S & H Quick Shop on Highway 63. Visitors can take a walk through the memorial, which honors the lives of Arkansas service members who lost their lives in the line of duty. It will be open to the public starting Friday and will remain on display through September 11.
Judy Henderson and her husband Eldon, with the support of sponsors and donors, are offering the entire event free of charge to the community.
