The Mountain View Yellowjackets are looking to improve on last year’s 3-6 campaign in Class 3A Region 2, with head football coach Curtis Sims setting optimistic goals for the 2026 season. Sims has expressed confidence in this year’s team, citing leadership, depth, and an experienced offensive line as their key strengths.
"Leadership will be the cornerstone of our success," Sims said, adding that the returning offensive linemen bring stability and cohesiveness to the team’s offense. According to Sims, the line is expected to be a driving force in both the Yellowjackets’ running and passing game, which will employ a variety of offensive sets.
The conference schedule is shaping up to be more competitive this year, with three additional teams now part of the league. Despite the challenges, Sims believes Mountain View has the tools to compete for more wins and perhaps challenge for the conference title.
On the defensive side, Sims highlighted the depth of the roster, particularly in a way that allows for more consistency and flexibility across multiple positions. He emphasized that contributions from across the squad will be essential as the season unfolds.
The Yellowjackets had a bye week to kick off the season and will head to Harrisburg on Friday night for their opening game. Sims noted that his team is eager to get on the field and test their preparation. "We’re ready for the challenge," he said.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Harrisburg.
