A 56-year-old Trumann man has been extradited from Tennessee to Arkansas to face charges including first-degree murder, according to the Trumann Police Department.
Rudy Alford Ray was taken into custody in Franklin, Tennessee, during an investigation into a Trumann homicide. On August 28, Trumann police transported Ray back to Arkansas after he waived extradition.
Ray is facing three charges: first-degree murder, abuse of a corpse, and tampering with physical evidence. He is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing on August 31 in Poinsett County Circuit Court in Harrisburg.
The investigation began on August 21 when SWAT teams from Trumann and the Poinsett County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at a property in the 400 block of Pine Avenue in Trumann. During the search, investigators discovered what are believed to be human remains.
"During the search of the property, investigators located what are believed to be human remains. At this time, the remains cannot be positively identified," Trumann Police Chief Jonathan Thomas stated.
The remains were sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab in Little Rock for further analysis.
Authorities have not released additional details about the investigation or the circumstances leading to the charges against Ray. Police continue to process evidence in the case.
