A 35-year-old Calico Rock man, Cameron Baker Jr., is facing federal drug trafficking charges and is expected to enter a guilty plea as part of an agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office, according to court filings. The case involves charges of trafficking significant quantities of methamphetamine, which carries severe penalties under Arkansas law.
Prosecutors originally scheduled a hearing for August 13 to address a motion filed by Baker's attorney to suppress evidence. However, before the hearing could proceed, the defense moved to withdraw the motion, citing the agreement to plead guilty. A date has not yet been set for Baker to formally enter his plea.
Baker is among four individuals charged in connection to drug-related activity. His wife, 24-year-old Hannah Bray, also known as Hannah Smolek, as well as 21-year-old Kadence Martin and 20-year-old Carson Grass, were implicated in the case. Court records highlight the alleged presence of a large quantity of methamphetamine in the investigation.
Property records indicate that Baker and Bray were residing on a property owned by Baker. It is alleged that rent payments had been made in advance for two months.
In Arkansas, drug trafficking is classified as a Class Y felony, the most serious category of crime that does not carry the death penalty. Convictions for Class Y felonies can result in sentences ranging up to life imprisonment.
State drug charges against Baker remain pending in Baxter County.
