Salem's youth flag football program is gearing up for its second season, with sign-ups and a flag football camp set for this Sunday.
Cameron Shaver and Samantha Corsaut, who oversee the program, are encouraging boys and girls from kindergarten through second grade to participate. Children from Salem and surrounding area schools are eligible to join.
The registration and camp will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Salem Athletic Complex on Highway 9 North. Shaver said several participants have already signed up, but he expects more to register during Sunday’s event. Last year’s league saw about 70 participants, and the organizers are anticipating a similar turnout this year.
Games are slated to begin Monday, September 14, and will be played on the Salem High School baseball and softball fields. The games are scheduled for every Monday evening through November.
