Greene County Tech delivered a strong performance Friday night, defeating the Salem Greyhounds 31-6 in the season’s home opener at Salem. The visitors established early control with two rushing touchdowns in the first quarter, holding onto that momentum throughout the game.
Salem managed to narrow the gap in the second quarter, scoring a 14-yard touchdown less than three minutes into the period. However, Greene County Tech responded with two additional touchdowns and a field goal to secure their win.
Greyhounds head coach Billy Webber reflected on the loss, commending Greene County Tech for their effort on the field. He acknowledged Salem’s mistakes but expressed confidence that they can be corrected as the team moves forward.
The Greyhounds, unaccustomed to home losses, will have an opportunity to rebound next week. They are set to host Pocahontas at 7 p.m. Friday in Salem.
