Slim Chickens has officially opened its doors on St. Louis Street in Batesville, introducing a dynamic menu, over 100 local jobs, and a distinctly community-focused environment.

Cody Davis, the owner, and General Manager Cara Mourer worked closely with their team to prepare the restaurant ahead of its debut, ensuring a smooth launch for both diners and drive-thru patrons.

“We’ve hired an incredible staff,” Davis said. “Many of these young people are starting their first jobs, and we’re incredibly proud of the effort they’ve put in.”

Mourer, a familiar face to many Batesville residents, described her enthusiasm for the restaurant industry and the Slim Chickens brand. “We love to have fun while we’re at work, but we also love taking care of our customers,” she said. “We’re thrilled to be in Batesville and to serve this community.”

### Beyond Chicken Tenders

Known for its hand-breaded, golden-fried chicken tenders, Slim Chickens also offers an array of grilled options, chicken sandwiches, salads, wraps, and unique meal combinations like the “Three and Three,” which pairs three tenders and three bone-in wings. For heartier appetites, the “Five and Five” option is available.

Customers can enhance their meals with one of 15 dipping sauces or several seasoning blends, including cayenne ranch and lemon pepper. As Davis noted, the wings have already proven popular for gatherings like football parties and tailgates.

Beverage selections include freshly brewed tea and lemonade, while dessert options feature key lime pie, strawberry cheesecake, and brownie flavors served in reusable mason jars. Seasonal dessert offerings are also planned.

### A Local Tribute

Batesville residents will find nods to their community incorporated into the restaurant’s design. A custom guitar-themed mural, created by Davis’ brother and business partner Scott Davis, highlights local landmarks such as the Lock and Dam and Mark Martin’s race car. The mural is also featured on limited-edition drink cups available during the restaurant’s opening period.

### A Tradition of Family and Food

The new Slim Chickens represents the latest venture in a family legacy of restaurant management for Davis. His father, Ricky Davis, has spent five decades in the Sonic Drive-In business, and Davis credits both his parents with inspiring his career.

“My mom and dad helped raise me in this business,” he shared. “It’s been a blessing to learn from my dad over the years. At Slim Chickens, we want every guest to feel the same kind of welcome and care they’d feel sitting across the table from family.”

The dining room at Slim Chickens in Batesville is open daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m., while the drive-thru extends service until midnight. Customers can also take advantage of the Slim Chickens mobile app for menu updates, promotional offers, and exclusive deals.
