JONESBORO – Arkansas State University’s First National Bank Arena (FNBA) has completed a series of upgrades aimed at enhancing the experience for fans and attendees as the fall semester gets underway.
The upgrades include new indoor lighting designed to create a brighter atmosphere and support light shows during events. Will Chamberlin, FNBA’s marketing director, highlighted how the new lighting has already been put to use during recent volleyball matches, elevating the spectator experience. “We have added new lighting inside the arena that allows for a brighter atmosphere as well as a new capability to run light shows. We have already been able to use these features during A-State volleyball matches and we have seen how it has created a unique and exciting experience for the fans,” Chamberlin said.
In addition to indoor improvements, new outdoor lighting has been installed around the parking lots to enhance visibility and safety. Rod Saavedra, FNBA director, emphasized the importance of these changes. “We have also added new outdoor lighting around the parking lots which contributes to promoting a safe and inviting environment. Safety is our top priority and we always want to be able to blend safety and security while still enhancing a patron’s experience,” Saavedra said.
The venue’s enhancements come as First National Bank Arena prepares to host major events this fall. Country music artist Parker McCollum will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, and Red Clay Strays are scheduled for a show at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, following notable performances on The Tonight Show and at Madison Square Garden.
The Red Wolves volleyball team has also benefited from the summer’s upgrades, with the installation of a new cushioned court surface designed specifically for volleyball. According to Chamberlin, the court provides both improved safety for athletes and a fresh aesthetic for fans in attendance. “We have also added a new court surface specifically designed for volleyball matches. This cushioned, state-of-the-art surface allows for safer conditions for the players as well as a fresh new look for the fans,” he said.
First National Bank Arena’s staff expressed optimism as they prepare for a busy season of events. Chamberlin added, “We are excited for the Red Wolves and concert seasons to get underway and for fans to experience the new light shows and court surface.”
