CAVE CITY, Ark. — Cave City has completed a major sewer system upgrade, replacing approximately 20,000 feet of aging concrete sewer mains with more durable PVC piping.
According to Mayor Jonas Anderson, the updated pipes are designed to improve the city’s infrastructure, featuring a wider diameter compared to the old system. "These new pipes are two inches wider than the old pipes," Anderson confirmed.
The extensive project was funded through a combination of local and external resources. Of the total project cost, the city contributed roughly $1 million, with grants covering the remainder.
"Every single phase, we’ve identified a grant program to help us out," Anderson said. "We figured out what the match would be, what the project would cost, and then we’ve kind of gone from there."
The new sewer system is expected to serve Cave City residents well into the future. Mayor Anderson expressed confidence that the upgrades will prevent the types of issues the community had been struggling with for years. He also highlighted the role of cooperation between city officials and residents in identifying and addressing sewer-related problems.
"Hopefully they won’t have to deal with the kind of problems that we were having for a long, long time," he said.
The completion of this project marks a significant investment in the city’s infrastructure and underscores efforts to modernize essential services for the benefit of the community.
