A North Arkansas Electric Cooperative (NAEC) employee who was injured on the job earlier this month has died. Rhett Carter, 24, of Glencoe, sustained injuries on August 6 while working in the Ozark Acres area of Sharp County. He was airlifted to a hospital in Little Rock and passed away on Tuesday.
Details surrounding the workplace accident remain under investigation by the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office, which has not yet released its official report.
Carter began his career with NAEC as an intern in December 2022 and transitioned to a full-time employee in July 2024. In 2024, he was promoted to the company’s right-of-way division.
Carter is survived by his wife, Kiley; his parents, Ross and Misti; his siblings, Tressie and Cooper; and extended family. His family has requested that memorial donations be made to either the Humphries Cemetery in Glencoe or the Public Timber Project Bible Donations.
In honor of Carter, NAEC’s Ash Flat office will remain closed until further notice. Additionally, the cooperative’s Salem and Mountain Home offices will close on Friday to allow employees to attend his funeral services.
The funeral will take place on Friday, providing an opportunity for family, friends, and coworkers to gather and honor his memory.
