Arkansas motorists are finding some relief at the pump this week, with gas prices dropping slightly across the state.
According to the AAA Arkansas Weekend Gas Watch, the average price for regular unleaded gasoline in Arkansas now stands at $3.74 per gallon, a six-cent decline compared to last Thursday.
Prices vary across the state, with Jonesboro residents paying an average of $3.66 per gallon. The lowest prices were reported in Hot Springs, where drivers are paying an average of $3.56 per gallon. The highest prices were found in the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers metro area, with an average of $3.87 per gallon.
Nationally, the average gas price dipped by one cent last week to $4.09 per gallon. AAA noted in its Thursday news release that this marks the first time in history that the national average for August has stayed above the $4-per-gallon mark every day of the month. AAA added that August 2026 is on track to become the most expensive August for gas prices on record, surpassing the previous record set in 2022.
Drivers are advised to monitor local prices and conserve fuel whenever possible, as factors such as crude oil costs and seasonal demand fluctuations continue to impact prices nationwide.
