Yellville-Summit head volleyball coach April Martin expressed pride in her young team’s determination as they navigate a challenging early-season schedule. Despite opening with tough matchups against Cotter and Salem, Martin believes the Lady Panthers are close to breaking into the win column.
The team gained confidence after pushing Salem, a traditionally strong opponent, to five sets in a recent match. Martin pointed to that performance as a sign of progress and a boost to morale.
Three seniors are leading this year’s squad, and Martin has already seen them step into leadership roles. Meanwhile, setters Greysen Dearmore and Khloe Gates are still adjusting to their positions, but their steady improvement signals a promising future for the team. Martin anticipates both players will become key leaders as the season advances.
The Lady Panthers continue their season today with a road match against Valley Springs. The competition begins at 4:30 p.m. with the junior high B team, followed by the junior girls, before varsity action sees Yellville-Summit face off against Valley Springs in another tough test.
