A Newport man lost his life Saturday after a single-vehicle crash in rural Independence County.
The Arkansas State Police reported that 40-year-old Kristopher G. Cousins was driving west on State Highway 14 when his 2002 Chevrolet Blazer veered off the roadway. According to the preliminary fatal crash report, the SUV entered a roadside ditch and overturned.
The crash occurred at 5:07 p.m. on Aug. 22. Cousins died from his injuries and was transported to Dillinger Funeral Home.
Troopers noted that the weather at the time was cloudy, and the road was dry.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
