West Memphis, Ark. – Arkansas State Police are investigating a fatal collision that occurred early Tuesday on Interstate 40, leaving one man dead.
According to a preliminary report from ASP, the incident took place at approximately 12:36 a.m. on August 22 near the 279-mile marker in West Memphis.
An unidentified man, described only as "John Doe," was walking in the lane of traffic when he was hit by a westbound 2023 Chevy Traverse. Officials said the male victim's age and hometown remain unknown.
The crash report noted that weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry at the time of the accident.
State police are continuing their investigation as they work to confirm the identity of the victim.
