The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has confirmed the issuance of a boil water notice for customers served by the Brunner Hill Public Water Authority along Lake Point Drive.
The notice, issued on Wednesday, comes as a precautionary measure following a water line break that caused a loss of normal system pressure. According to the ADH, this pressure drop may have allowed contaminated water to enter the distribution system.
Affected residents are advised to take precautions as the water may be unsafe for consumption. For drinking, cooking, or food preparation, water should be brought to a rolling boil and boiled briskly for at least one minute before use. Ice cubes made prior to the notice should be discarded, and only boiled or bottled water should be used when making new ice.
The boil water notice will remain in effect until bacteriological testing confirms the water is free of contamination and adequate disinfectant levels have been restored throughout the system, according to the ADH. Further updates will be provided once the notice is lifted.
