Severe thunderstorms rolled through North Arkansas on Saturday, bringing heavy rain, tree damage, power outages, and a vehicle crash in Sharp County.
The storms affected multiple counties, including Fulton, Izard, Baxter, Sharp, Lawrence, Greene, and Jackson. In Cherokee Village, trees were downed, and a few homes sustained damage. However, no personal injuries were reported in the area, according to local officials.
In Lawrence County, residents in Imboden, Black Rock, Smithville, Portia, and Clover Bend experienced heavy storms and downed trees. Craighead Electric Cooperative confirmed outages in the county, though there were no reported injuries.
The storms caused significant power disruption. North Arkansas Electric Cooperatives reported 3,116 customers without power during the height of the storm. Likewise, Entergy Arkansas noted widespread outages in Baxter and Fulton Counties, with clusters of downed trees near Henderson, Gamaliel, Geep, and Elizabeth. Greene and Jackson Counties southeast of the main storm path also experienced damage.
One injury was reported after a one-vehicle crash occurred near Hardy in Sharp County during heavy rain. According to authorities, 45-year-old Jim Selledge of Mammoth Spring ran off Highway 63 near the Williford turnoff, overturning his pickup truck in a ditch. Selledge was transported to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains for treatment of his injuries.
Emergency crews, power companies, and residents worked through the aftermath on Sunday to clear debris and restore services.
