PARAGOULD, Ark. — A 19-year-old woman faces several charges after police said she threw a knife at a man and threatened his life during an argument.
Authorities arrested Summer Knuckles on Monday. She is being held on a $125,000 bond and faces felony charges, including aggravated assault on a family or household member, first-degree terroristic threatening, and third-degree domestic battery.
The charges stem from an incident on August 24, according to an affidavit. Police responded to a reported assault at a residence in the 700 block of Theil Road in Paragould.
Upon arriving, officers interviewed both Knuckles and the man involved. Knuckles reportedly told police the two had been arguing when the man struck her twice with a chair, and she then threatened to kill him.
However, according to testimony from the man provided to Corporal Johnathon Porter, Knuckles allegedly struck him twice in the face with a set of keys. He said he pushed her down to retrieve the keys and threw her phone across the room.
“The victim stated after this, the defendant screamed, ‘I am going to kill you,’ and ran out of the room,” Porter wrote in the report. “Once he turned around, the defendant was running back into the room with a knife and he swung a chair at the defendant twice as she threw the knife at him.”
Porter said officers reviewed video evidence of the altercation, which supported the victim’s statements.
During an interview at the police station, Knuckles admitted to striking the man with the keys but then requested an attorney.
Greene County District Court Judge Curtis Hitt reviewed the affidavit and found probable cause to arrest Knuckles. He set her bond at $125,000 cash or surety and issued a no-contact order preventing Knuckles from contacting the alleged victim.
No injuries requiring medical attention were reported. The investigation is ongoing.
Knuckles was expected to remain in custody pending her next court appearance.
