PARAGOULD, Ark. — A woman has been charged with multiple felonies after authorities allege she attacked a man with a set of keys, threatened to kill him, and threw a knife at him during a domestic dispute on August 24.
Summer Knuckles faces charges of aggravated assault on a family or household member and first-degree terroristic threatening, both classified as D felonies. Additionally, she faces a Class A misdemeanor charge for third-degree domestic battering, according to court records.
Officers responded to a report of an assault on Theil Road in Paragould. Upon arrival, Knuckles claimed she had been arguing with the man and alleged that he had struck her twice with a chair. However, according to a probable cause affidavit, police said Knuckles also admitted to threatening to kill the victim during the altercation.
The man involved in the incident told police that Knuckles hit him twice in the face with a set of keys, and that he pushed her down in an attempt to take the keys. He claimed he later threw her phone across the room, mistaking it for the keys.
The situation reportedly escalated further when Knuckles allegedly threatened to kill him and ran out of the room. According to the affidavit, the man said Knuckles returned carrying a knife. When he swung a chair at her twice to defend himself, Knuckles allegedly threw the knife at him.
Police reviewed video footage of the encounter, which they stated supported the victim's account of the events.
Knuckles was taken to the police station for questioning, where authorities said she admitted to hitting the man twice with the keys before halting the interview and requesting legal counsel.
On August 25, District Judge Curtis Hitt determined probable cause in the case. Knuckles’ bond was set at $125,000, with specific conditions for her release, including no contact with the victim, witnesses, or others connected to the case. She was also barred from possessing any weapons.
Knuckles is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
