PARAGOULD, Ark. — A 24-year-old Paragould man has been sentenced to 120 days in county jail, with three years of supervised probation, after pleading guilty to domestic battery and terroristic threatening charges in Greene County Circuit Court.
Court records show Wesley B. Hulsey entered negotiated guilty pleas on July 28 to third-degree domestic battery and first-degree terroristic threatening, both classified as Class D felonies. As part of the plea agreement, Hulsey was credited with 50 days already served toward his jail term.
The domestic battery charge stemmed from a June 8 incident in which Paragould police responded to reports of a disturbance. A woman told officers that Hulsey, while driving through the city with her as a passenger, began operating the vehicle erratically. When she asked him to pull over, Hulsey stopped in a Verizon parking lot. However, as she tried to exit the vehicle, Hulsey reportedly put the car in drive and moved forward, causing her to fall and injure her right elbow, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The woman later reported experiencing pelvic pain the following morning, prompting her to seek medical attention. Prosecutors stated in the affidavit that the charge was escalated to a felony due to Hulsey's previous domestic assault conviction in Tennessee in 2024.
The terroristic threatening conviction arises from a separate report filed on June 9. A man told Greene County sheriff’s deputies that Hulsey had threatened to kill him. Detectives interviewed the man and a witness, with the witness providing video evidence of the incident. In the video, Hulsey is reportedly heard saying, "I’m going to murder him in front of her." The charge lists the offense date as June 6, according to court records.
Alongside the jail sentence and probation, Hulsey was ordered to pay a series of fines and fees, including a $500 fine, $150 in court costs, a $60 booking fee, and $250 to cover public defender expenses.
