A Hardy woman has been charged with first-degree felony endangering the welfare of a minor after a baby in her care tested positive for methamphetamine, according to Sharp County authorities.
Samantha Jo Brink, 39, was arrested last week and is being held in the Sharp County Detention Center. The charges stem from an incident in early April when Brink was reportedly babysitting her 9-month-old relative.
Court documents state that one of the child's parents allegedly witnessed Brink smoking meth while on the porch. A subsequent hair test performed on the baby returned a positive result for methamphetamine, according to a probable cause affidavit.
The family of the child also reportedly administered a home drug test to Brink, which allegedly registered a positive result for meth.
Earlier this month, a judge found probable cause to issue a warrant for Brink’s arrest. She is awaiting a court date and bond hearing, officials said.
