JONESBORO, Ark. — A man on probation has been charged with possession of a firearm by certain persons, a Class B felony, after police in Jonesboro discovered an AR-15-style pistol in his vehicle during a probation search.
Quion Williams was arrested on August 22 after officers investigating a group reportedly smoking marijuana in the parking lot of a Daybreak apartment complex encountered him. According to a probable cause affidavit, Williams informed officers that he was on probation, prompting them to search his vehicle where the firearm was found.
Court documents state that a records check revealed Williams had previous convictions for a violent felony and other offenses. As a convicted felon, Williams is prohibited from possessing firearms. If convicted of the current charge, he faces a potential sentence of five to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000.
During a bond hearing on Monday, Judge David Boling set Williams' bond at $100,000 cash or surety. In the bond order, Boling noted that Williams had been arrested six times since July 2025 on violent charges, some involving weapons. Williams had pleaded guilty to certain charges in June and was sentenced to probation.
Williams' next court appearance is set for 8:30 a.m. on October 26 at the Craighead County Courthouse.
All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
