The Mountain Home Christian Academy (MHCA) Lady Eagles volleyball team secured second place in a pre-season tournament hosted by Southwest Christian Academy in Little Rock over the weekend.
The tournament featured pool play on Friday, where matches were determined by the best two out of three sets. MHCA started strong, defeating Valley Christian with scores of 25-10 and 25-19. They followed up by beating Gospel Light 25-23, 12-25, and 15-12, and edged out Christian Ministries Academy 25-14 and 28-26. However, Southwest Christian Academy proved a challenge, handing MHCA a loss with scores of 15-25 and 18-25. The Lady Eagles bounced back to close pool play on a high note, defeating Abundant Life Academy 25-19 and 25-14.
The team carried their momentum into Saturday’s bracket-play tournament. After facing Abundant Life Academy again, MHCA prevailed with a hard-fought victory in four sets, 15-25, 25-18, 25-15, and 24-19, earning their place in the championship match.
In the finals, MHCA faced a tough opponent but started strong. They dropped the first set 25-18 and the second set 25-20 before rallying to win the third set 25-23. Despite their efforts, the Lady Eagles fell in the decisive fourth set, 25-19, finishing as the tournament’s runner-up.
The Lady Eagles’ performance in the pre-season tournament showcased their resilience and ability to compete at a high level. The event served as an early test for the team as they prepare for the upcoming season.
