A Flippin woman has been sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to charges of theft by receiving and fleeing during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court on Monday, August 17.
Kelley Nicole Moore, 40, was arrested last October after a Baxter County sheriff’s deputy identified a white Dodge Ram pickup truck matching the description of a vehicle reported stolen in Sharp County. According to the sheriff’s office, the deputy located the truck near the intersection of Tucker Cemetery Road and State Highway 126, where the license plate was confirmed to match information from a be-on-the-lookout bulletin for the stolen vehicle.
When the deputy activated his patrol lights, the vehicle did not stop, prompting the use of a siren. Authorities say the truck then accelerated to approximately 80 miles per hour in a 40-mile-per-hour zone, at times traveling down the center of the roadway. The pursuit ended on Shamrock Lane, where Moore was arrested without further incident.
Court records show that Monday’s sentencing is not Moore’s first encounter with the law. In October 2019, she faced charges of introducing a controlled substance into the body of another person after allegations surfaced that methamphetamine was used in the presence of an eight-month-old child. Subsequent testing reportedly showed the infant had the substance in her system. Moore pled guilty to the charge in July 2020 and was sentenced to 72 months’ probation.
Moore’s recent five-year prison sentence underscores the seriousness of her latest offenses and adds to her prior criminal record.
