Hundreds of families in Jonesboro received free supplies on Saturday during an event hosted outside New Beginnings Outreach Ministries. Volunteers distributed household essentials—including soap and small appliances like air fryers—to those in need, with lines of cars wrapping around the block.
The event was coordinated by Black Men United, a nonprofit organization focused on supporting communities across Arkansas. Arsenio Clinton, the organization’s Arkansas executive director, said the group works to partner with other organizations to maximize their impact.
“We like to collaborate with other organizations that are doing something positive and productive in the community,” Clinton said. “We reach out to everybody that’s trying to do things that are positive. Give back to the community. We come and join them and make every event successful. That’s what we try to do.”
Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver attended the event and issued a proclamation naming the day “Black Men United Community Hope Day.” The proclamation recognized the organization’s efforts to empower families and bring meaningful assistance to the community.
The event highlights ongoing efforts by local and regional groups to address needs in Northeast Arkansas, where access to everyday necessities can sometimes be a challenge for families facing financial strain.
