Severe storms swept through Baxter County Saturday afternoon, causing significant damage in the Henderson and Gamaliel areas.
Strong winds accompanying the storms knocked down multiple trees, blocking roadways and prompting safety concerns. Mike Holland of the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office reported that some trees remain across major roads, though crews have already started clearing debris to restore access.
Holland confirmed that injuries were reported as a result of the storms. Officials have not yet provided details about the number or severity of injuries.
Motorists are advised to avoid affected areas to allow utility and cleanup crews to safely remove the remaining debris. The sheriff’s office is urging residents to remain cautious and stay updated on weather advisories during severe conditions.
The storm serves as a reminder of the importance of monitoring weather alerts and heeding warnings issued by officials when storms approach.
