Monticello, Ark. — Arkansas State Police Corporal John M. Parker was arrested on August 21 following a single-vehicle wreck while on duty in his state-issued patrol vehicle. The incident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. on U.S. Highway 278 near Monticello, according to authorities. Parker, 45, of Camden, was uninjured in the crash.

After conducting Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, law enforcement charged Parker with Driving While Intoxicated/Drugs and Careless and Prohibited Driving, citing evidence of impairment. He was transported to the Drew County Detention Center for processing.

The Arkansas State Police confirmed that Parker has been placed on administrative leave while the agency’s Office of Professional Standards conducts an internal investigation. Parker has been with the State Police since 2014.
