The Izard County Fair and Livestock Show begins Monday at the fairgrounds in Melbourne, offering a full week of activities for the community.
Preparations start earlier, with livestock stall setup scheduled for Saturday morning. Unlike previous years, no advance reservations have been taken for stall spaces, a change organizers say is intended to give all exhibitors an equal opportunity in choosing their locations.
The fair officially opens Monday. While the Creative Arts Building will be closed during the day for judging, participants can check in their creative arts exhibits on Tuesday from noon to 7 p.m. Flowers and food preparation entries will have a shorter check-in period on Tuesday, running from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Livestock check-in, which includes cattle, goats, sheep, and swine, is also slated for Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The fair runs through Saturday, featuring events, exhibits, and entertainment for all ages. For a detailed schedule and additional information, residents are encouraged to visit the Izard County Fair Association page on Facebook.
For decades, the Izard County Fair has been a cherished tradition, bringing the community together to celebrate agriculture, art, and family-friendly fun.
