Two candidates for city council positions in Baxter County have withdrawn from the November general election, according to local officials. Rick Hawkins has exited the race for Gassville City Council Ward 3, Seat 1, while Megan DuBois withdrew from the race for Cotter City Council Ward 1, Position 1, on August 6.

The Baxter County Board of Election Commissioners is scheduled to hold its ballot order draw at 9 a.m. on Friday in the second-floor courtroom of the Baxter County Courthouse, located at 1 East 7th Street in Mountain Home. The ballot draw, required by Arkansas law, determines the order in which candidates' names will appear on the ballot for the November 3 general election.

Candidates, their representatives, and members of the public are invited to attend the event and observe the proceedings. Following the ballot draw, the commissioners will immediately finalize the meeting agenda.

The Baxter County Board of Election Commissioners is chaired by Gary Smith, with Bob Bodenhamer and Bill Andres serving as commissioners. Lindsay Roberts is the county’s election coordinator.
