The Greene County Community Fund held its third annual barbecue fundraiser on Friday, partnering with The Main Dish restaurant to generate support for local scholarships and nonprofit organizations in Greene County.

According to Executive Director Candice Keatts, the organization has already distributed $100,000 in funding this year and hopes to match that amount in 2027. “We are very happy to be able to do that. And we are hoping to be able to do the same again for next year. We’ve given out $100,000 this year. So our goal is to do that again next year. And we can’t do it without the support from the community,” Keatts said.

The event’s goal was to sell 200 barbecue plates. Ultimately, 170 meals were served. This fundraiser contributes to the Community Fund’s ongoing efforts to provide financial assistance to groups and individuals throughout the county.
